The main task of this department is to formulate and implement the annual agricultural expansion plan at the upazila level. Bajitpur Upazila has been able to increase the production of vegetables including rice, wheat, maize and potato in the last three years by transferring technology to meet the food and nutrition needs of the growing population from the declining cultivable land.Through intensification of expansion activities, rice production has been 1.75 lakh MT, wheat production has been 305 MT and maize production has been 12000 MT in the last three years.
Achieving food grain production self-sufficiency in modern and strength tolerant varieties of different crops, water efficient technology, balanced use of fertilizers, modern perching cultivation, increased use of cocoon urea, quality seed production and storage, production and use of organic and green fertilizers to increase soil health. Success has been achieved in expansion.In order to involve about half of the total population in agriculture, about 3000 thousand farmers, including women, have been imparted training on appropriate modern technology in the last three years. * Provide training to 2400 farmers on appropriate modern technology. * Provide training to 25 extension workers on modern technology. * Establishment of 360 exhibitions for the expansion of modern varieties and technologies. * Increase non-urea and balanced use at farmer level and use of cocoon urea in 30% of the land for crop cultivation.
